About the event

Adults and Youth Ages 12 +

In this two day workshop, you will learn a textile design technique used by cultures throughout the globe! Batik is a technique for dying fabric that uses wax as a resist to create beautiful patterns and designs. The wax is applied to the cloth, dipped in a dye bath, then the wax is removed. Where the wax once was, the fabric will remain the original color. It is a fun process that  is fairly easy to learn. For more information, see the description from The Batik Guild. You can use your creations to add to bags, tee shirts, scarves, pillowcases, and more or simply for a beautiful wall hanging.

This is a great class for anyone who loves fabric and textiles, or bold color. Even if you have done batik before, there is plenty of room for trying more advanced techniques. Attend Saturday only and learn the basics, or both days for a more indepth experience. It is also a wonderful experience for caregivers and youth to have together!

This is a pick-your-price workshop. When you register, simply choose one of the four price points that work for you. If you can't make it to both days, you can still learn the basics by attending the Saturday session only. Simply choose one of the lower price ticket options, or enter your own price using the flex price option.
